On Saturday, May 10 Petaline is having a fashion event with Revival Home and Garden. Revival is a kick-ass new store in Georgetown. Owner, Leah Steen has stocked her huge space with the most deliciously inspired furniture and home accessories. I love it in there and am super excited to be able to work with Leah on this event. 10% of all our proceeds will go towards Team Diane and the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day. It's also the night of Georgetown's Art Attack! art walk. Good times for a good cause.

An ex of mine works at a gallery in NY and sent along some photography by Adam Fuss. Incredible. I love being exposed to totally new modalities and he uses a technique called a photogram to create these haunting images:

I guess the process involves leaving items on photographic paper in a dark room on an enlarger for a period of time to expose the paper just enough to capture the skeleton of the image.

I've been working with Lisa Radon over at Ultra PDX, which is an incredible blog about the fashion, art and design coming out of Portland. Clarity Miller over at Blackbird Fashion creates cute clothes from size small to 2XL, a refreshing change of pace from the dinky boutique sizing that abounds in the fashion world. Right now I just have her skirts up, but will be adding other items soon.

my family and I visited Salt Spring Island in the Gulf Islands of Canada. It was a magical trip, the weather was gorgeous and everyone got along great. The island is home to many artists and small farms and is known for it's lamb. Luckily, we were there on a saturday and we able to visit the huge farmer's market they have there.

We visited an incredible dairy called Salt Spring Island Cheese Company where they make exquisite goat and sheep's cheese. We also visited a shop that imports french fabric - the people who own the shop live in a house that is modeled after Marie Antoinette's farm house at Versailles. Wine from one of the island's wineries and fresh bread along with the goat cheese made for a perfect picnic lunch.

We hiked around Ruckle Park on the south end that has majestic peaks over looking shallows with purple starfish.

I really needed to get a way for a bit and this trip was perfect for that.

The photos are terrible because our room is painted a dark brown and very cave-like (just the way we like it) but you get the idea. A Japanese bird fabric (bought from Azalea Studios) in one huge and two normal size embroidery hoops.
